Let's Plan

Redesigning the process of goal setting

Usually, your 20s are a volatile period in life, filled with decisions, changes and lots of planning. To combat the stress that comes with planning and goal setting, I decided to break the task down and come up with a tactile format to ground the decision making process. I wanted to gamify the process so you could answer the questions/steps you were certain about and fill in the blanks from there. This lead to the creation of prompt cards called Let’s Plan.

Let's Plan is 12 card based ‘game’ that comes packaged in a box with 3 total sets. The cards were designed to be used by individuals and groups trying to accomplish a specific goal. Planning can be overwhelming and Let's Plan breaks down the basics of goal setting to make the process manageable.

The front of each card features an overarching question, guiding the user to think about the different components of planning. The back of each card provides a more specific prompt/question that is related to the front. The face and reverse sides put together help users consider all aspects of the what, how, when, where and why stages of planning.

The tone of the prompts is playful and direct while remaining relatively vague to be applicable to any goal. The design features a gradient which intends to invoke a feeling of calmness and serenity. The typeface used is Gill Sans for its stylish and bold face, conveying confidence while visually grounding. The cards should be used in any order but can be arranged from light purple to dark blue as seen on the prompts on the reverse side.

Users are able to write directly on the cards and organize their thoughts. Using either the front or back prompts, the cards are designed to make overwhelming task seem achievable. I often reference these cards in stressful times and end up organizing my thoughts within a few moments. I’ve gifted these cards to a couple of friends and have always heard praise for the simple yet helpful prompts.
