SAIC Postcard
Creating a postcard advertising SAIC's Fashion Council
The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) Fashion Department holds multiple programs and events throughout the year to engage various designers and help raise funds for the students. They have an annual membership that is advertised to leaders in the industry. While working for the Office of Marketing at the school, I created a postcard that advertised the membership and events.

The content was provided to me as well as images to work with. The final design displayed the work of SAIC alum Eliana Batsakis. The project brief was to design something fashionable and exuding the ‘cool-kid vibe’. Leveraging the tone of the picture and movement within, I came up with iterations of wavy lines composed alongside the image for texture.

The postcard was designed utilizing SAIC’s signature pink and orange colors, as well as their main typefaces Gotham and Lava. The biggest challenge while working on this project was typesetting all the content in a small space while still maintaining a clear hierarchy. I utilized two columns to maintain optimal line width and multiple paragraph styles to highlight important events and the call to action.

The Fashion Department especially liked the final design for its clean but cool style and bright colors. This postcard was further distributed to more than 200 professionals in the field and garnered great attention for the school. This project, while seemingly simple, required extensive iterations and a deep understanding of typography.
